Wideopen FC is one of the North East's fastest-growing community football clubs. This prospectus sets out our vision, what we need to achieve it, and how your organisation can be part of something that genuinely matters.
Wideopen FC exists to give everyone in North Tyneside access to football - regardless of age, ability, gender or background. We have been doing that for over 40 years. Now we want to do it better, for more people, for the next 40 years.
We are not a professional club chasing trophies. We are a community club that runs 600+ players every week - children learning the game for the first time, teenage girls competing at county level, adults playing walking football on a Tuesday morning, and families who have been part of this club for generations.
Our vision is a modern, inclusive community sports hub at the heart of NE13 - with facilities that match the ambition of our players and the needs of our community. Better pitches, a better clubhouse, safer access, and a new full-size 4G pitch that opens the game up to everyone.
We want to be a club that the whole of North Tyneside is proud of. A place where people come together, where young people thrive, and where football genuinely is for everyone.
That is not just a strapline. It is the reason every volunteer, coach and committee member gives their time - and the reason we are asking for your support.
Our facilities have not kept pace with our growth. We have 600+ players and a clubhouse that was built for a fraction of that number. We need investment across ten phases to bring our infrastructure up to the standard our community deserves.
Lockey Park is our home. But the building is showing its age. Floors are worn and unsafe. The kitchen and bar are outdated and limit our ability to host events. The car park is dangerously congested on matchdays. The roof leaks. These are not cosmetic issues - they affect the safety and experience of every family who comes through the gate.
Phases 1 through 8 and Phase 10 address these issues one by one, transforming Lockey Park into a modern, safe, welcoming facility that can sustain the club financially for decades.
Phase 9 is our flagship project: a full-size 11v11 4G artificial pitch at a local recreational ground. There is no full-size artificial pitch in the NE13 area. This single asset would transform what we can offer - year-round training, expanded girls and disability football, school partnerships, community hire, and tournaments that bring people together.
We are in active discussions with the Football Foundation and a feasibility study is underway. The club's contribution target is £40,000+, with the remainder sought through grants and corporate partnership.
NE13 is not a wealthy area. Parts of Wideopen and the surrounding postcode fall within the most deprived deciles nationally. For many families here, Wideopen FC is not a luxury - it is one of the few structured, affordable, safe activities available to their children.
Several areas within NE13 rank in the lower deciles of the Index of Multiple Deprivation. Child poverty, health deprivation and below-average physical activity levels are all measurable realities in this community. Structured sport is one of the most effective and cost-efficient interventions available.
We are not just a football club. For hundreds of families, we are a community anchor - a place that is safe, welcoming, and always there.
There is no full-size artificial pitch in the NE13 catchment area. Our existing 4G surface is nearing end of life. Our clubhouse was not built for 600+ players. The gap between what we have and what our community needs is real - and it is holding us back.
Without investment, we cannot grow the girls programme, expand disability football, run more holiday camps, or host the events that bring the community together. The need is not abstract. It is felt every single week.
Sport England estimates every £1 invested in community sport generates between £3.50 and £7.00 in social return. For a club of our scale, that impact is significant and evidenced.
Corporate partnership with Wideopen FC is not just a logo on a board. It is a genuine connection to a community that notices, remembers, and values the businesses that support it. Here is what that looks like in practice.
We are looking for partners at every level - from local businesses contributing materials or services, to larger organisations funding a specific phase of our development. There is no minimum. Every contribution makes a difference.
We are also open to in-kind support: construction materials, professional services, equipment, or expertise. If you can help in any way, we want to hear from you.
You do not need to be a large business to make a real difference here. A local company sponsoring a single phase creates something tangible and lasting for thousands of people in your own community.

We are a volunteer-run club. Every pound we raise goes directly into facilities and programmes for the community. There are no shareholders, no salaries, no overheads beyond what it costs to keep the lights on and the pitches playable.
