The John Harbottle Award

The John Harbottle Award is presented each year by Wideopen FC to recognise an individual who has made a meaningful and lasting contribution to the local community. It is one of the most important traditions at the club.

The award is named in memory of John Harbottle, a valued and much-loved member of Wideopen FC who dedicated a significant part of his life to both the club and the wider community. John was known for his warmth, his reliability, and his genuine care for the people around him. He gave his time freely and without expectation, and his positive impact on the club and on Wideopen as a community was felt by everyone who knew him.

Who Can Be Nominated?

Nominations are open to any individual who has made a positive contribution to the local community — whether through volunteering, supporting others, organising events, or simply being someone others can rely on. You do not need to be connected to football or to Wideopen FC to be nominated or to nominate.

The award is about recognising the kind of quiet, consistent contribution that often goes unnoticed but makes a genuine difference to the lives of those around them.

How to Nominate

Nominations can be submitted using the form below. Please include as much detail as you can about the person you are nominating and the contribution they have made. All nominations are considered by the club committee and the award is presented at the annual club presentation evening.
